Greetings kings and queens,
PLEASE REMAIN CALM. (Actually, no. Get excited.)
It’s time to celebrate the absolute best of our beautiful, overly windblown, aggressively opinionated, little corner of the world.
The best restaurants. The best shops. The best people. The best places to spend the money you don’t have. And, of course, the best opportunity to get all high and mighty by telling everyone that your favourite spot is better than theirs.
Whether you’re a local legend, a hidden gem, or just a business that deserves more recognition than your mom’s Facebook comments can provide, this is your moment.
Here’s how it goes down: You have until NOVEMBER 6th to submit your nominations. Our barrel-jeaned, Birkinstocked little elf (me) will then tally them up and the TOP 5 nominees in each category will go onto the Best of Halifax voting phase.
Also, just so you’re aware, I read the rules that don’t exist and you’re allowed to vote for ME if you feel so compelled. Most Halifamous? Maybe. Best journalist? You tell me. Just remember that Mother is here for you EVERY morning.
So what are you even waiting for? GET NOMINATING NOW!
Love and light my beautiful city!
– Jules

Nova Scotia NDP MLA faces consequence for social media post

📸 Paul Wozney/Facebook
Nova Scotia NDP MLA Paul Wozney is out as his party’s caucus whip following a social media post on Tuesday, Oct 20 where he invoked the on-going protests in France as an example of how to fight for worker’s rights.
The post, which has since been removed, provided commentary following the remedy to Bill 148.
“Don’t leave it to the courts,” wrote Wozney. “Learn from France. Own the streets. Shut government down. Grind the province/country to a halt… It’s the only ‘direct’ line to worker justice.”
