Good morning beauties,
I used to have this running joke with my mum (RIP to a real one 💗 ) that she should be on Master Chef because she was an unbelievable cook. However, she also had pretty wild undiagnosed ADHD. So, I used to say that the judges would be like “Chefs, you have 40 minutes to create your signature dish. Go!” And my mom would just putter around, touching various things in obvious abject panic and then the judges would be like “Time’s up! Knives down!” and she’d just be like “….” with literally no food on her station whatsover.
Sigh. I miss her so much.
Hopefully 43-year-old Halifax woman, Raiza Daniel, will have no such paralyzing anxiety issues as she embarks on the news season of Master Chef Canada. An interior designer by trade, Daniel grew up in a small village in Colombia and now calls Nova Scotia home.
She says she loves to share her Latin-inspired dishes through dinner clubs—which I would very much like an invite to ([email protected]). Although she says it’s much more challenging to cook while under pressure in the “MasterChef Canada” kitchen. Understatement of the century.
This is so fun! For those of you who were around last time we had a Halifax competitor on Top Chef Canada, I had the best time re-capping each episode for you guys. Should I do it again for our girl Raiza? Let me know in the comments.

Global roots, Halifax sound: Million Vibes brings The Million Experience to The Marquee

For years, Halifax’s music scene has given artists a place to start.
On Oct 3, a group of artists who found their way to Nova Scotia from different parts of the province and the world will perform on one of the city’s best-known stages, showcasing what can happen when those beginnings grow into something bigger.
The Million Experience, curated by Halifax-based music collective Million Vibes, will take over The Marquee, bringing together artists working across Afrofusion, hip-hop, R&B and other global sounds, with performances backed by a live band and additional production elements.

🚨 A youth told police they were being followed and when they got into a vehicle in Middle Sackville things escalated—investigators determined the man’s actions were hate-motivated and laid several offences against him including uttering threats and criminal harassment.
👀 Patrick Paddon was 17 years old when he disappeared on Nov. 29, 1969, in the woods outside Truro, N.S—nearly 57 years later, his niece Nicole Balcom is still looking for him.
🚍 A suspect was charged and arrested after a man was stabbed in Dartmouth on Monday evening—officers said the suspect ran from the area but he was arrested on a Halifax Transit bus.
🔫 Police arrested a man on a trail in Halifax in relation to an ongoing trafficking and gun investigation—when the 35-year-old was apprehended, police said they found a loaded handgun, a quantity of drugs and some money.
💸 After years of concern that Nova Scotia municipalities with their own police might have to start paying for specialized RCMP services, the province says it will cover most departments that need help in critical incidents.

Saul Hafting of Annapolis Royal broke an absurd record in 2021, when he was 16 years old.
