Hey Halifax,

Picture it: Halifax, 2001.

The sweaty high school gym is packed with horny teens. The night is winding down, the Mike’s Hard Lemonade buzz is wearing off, and the Much Music Video Dance DJ puts on the last slow song of the night. The crowds part and you see your crush, standing there in an oversized polo with the collar popped, the shine of his/her braces catching in the strobe light. You take one last deep breath as the first few notes pound from the speakers.

It’s time…

Can’t you just feel it in your bones?

This summer’s music scene is all about nostalgia. Grammy-winning rockers Creed—a band I haven’t thought of since those sweet high school nights— is bringing The Summer of ‘99 Tour to Halifax. They will be joined by Daughtry and Mammoth WVH when they play Halifax’s Garrison Grounds on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Not to be outdone in the nostalgia department, Nickleback will also be taking to Halifax this summer as one of the headliners for the 2025 Halifax Music Fest

And to top off my wet dream of a summer lineup, The Killers are also going to rock The Garrison Grounds on June 19 and I mean, this is just incredible. The Killers formed the soundtrack for my drug and alcohol-fuelled younger years and the songs always remind me of all the things that I’ve done (see what I did there?).

Bring on the summer nostalgia!
