🗞️ Larger than life

Dartmouth remembers Pat Stay. Plus: How to stay healthy during flu season.

Hey Halifax!

Good news this week for Canadian sports fans: The Men’s National Basketball Team has qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics after a win against Spain this past Sunday.

For those who love following the Olympic Games—like me—think of this as a small detail to tide us over while we wait almost a year for the games to begin.

LONG LIVE PAT STAY

Dartmouth remembers Pat Stay, one year after tragic killing

📸via Twitter

A man who had always seemed larger than life—both onstage and in the collective memory of those who knew and loved him—is now, fittingly, the size of a building. Over the Labour Day weekend, artists unveiled a 20-foot-high mural of late battle rapper Pat Stay in Dartmouth Cove, overlooking the Halifax Harbour. The painted tribute comes a year after the 36-year-old’s tragic killing on Sept. 4, 2022.

As The Coast’s Martin Bauman reports, the mural was part of a weekend filled with celebrations of Stay’s life—and comes mere weeks ahead of the next court appearance for the man charged with his killing.
