Good morning!
This is Mother’s Day weekend, so I’m going to remind all of you to call your mother, or the mothers in your life, and tell them you appreciate them.
I am in the fortunate position of having three moms: my mother Jackie, who always leaves me laughing after I get off the phone with her; my grandmother, Christine, who keeps me up to date on the drama back home, and my step-mom Debbie, who always encouraged me to take a snack from the cupboard on my way out the door.
I have three phone calls to make on Sunday. Three. I’ll be on the phone all day and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Call your mom. If you’re in the neighbourhood, take her out for dinner. She deserves it.
See you all next week.

Rooted in rural: The Lupin dining experience

📸 Contributed
There is a particular kind of ambition that rarely announces itself loudly.
It does not arrive with sleek dining rooms in major cities or celebrity partnerships. Instead, it appears quietly, often at the end of a gravel driveway, or in the case of Lupin Dining & Pantry, attached to a family home on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, where the garden sits only a few steps from the kitchen and where hospitality feels less manufactured than lived.

Rooted in Millbrook First Nation and raised in Eskasoni First Nation in Cape Breton, her journey has been shaped by both resilience and rediscovery, experiences that now fuel her mission to uplift Indigenous youth through creativity and cultural connection.
