Happy Friday, Halifax!

One unexpected result of the trade war with the United States was the removal of American alcohol from our provincial liquor stores.

Premier Tim Houston directed the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation to remove all U.S.-made booze off the shelves after Jeffrey Epstein’s bestie Donald Trump decided to slap tariffs on Canada without looking up the definition of the word. While this didn’t necessarily impact myself as I prefer a good local brew, I’m sure it took a toll on those who preferred American brands for one reason or another, and I’m certain this impacted the finances of the liquor corp this year.

For the second time in my life, I’m going to give Houston some credit—the first was when he back-talked Nova Scotia Power when they first announced its rate increase. It was announced the NSLC will be putting American alcohol back on the shelves with the net profit from those sales going to Feed Nova Scotia and other community food organizations. This will be around $4 million going to a good cause.

Good on the province for finding a way to make this product worth something for our communities.

Have a great weekend and see you next week!
