Duunnn dunnn… duuuunnnn duun… duuunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn dunnnn…
It’s not often that you’ll hear me say this, but…we need a man. But not just any man, we need THIS man:
Lately people are all “awwww, have you taken Poppy to put her feet in the ocean yet?” To which I say: this baby is pure fatty flesh and thus, basically a shark Chicken McNugget. Should I also bring a little BBQ dipping sauce too? NO!! For reference, here is a picture of her beside a shark jaw:

Two great white sharks were spotted swimming 800 metres from the shore near Rissers Beach in Petite Rivière on Sunday. For the past 5 years, Dr. Alex de Saint Sardos has been filming great white sharks around the Green Bay area. He says despite having only a short window of time when visibility is good, he has captured videos of between eight to 10 great whites every summer.
This year he says shark season seemed to start earlier, spotting them in June as opposed to the normal start in August. That’s just great.
The most common sharks in the waters around Nova Scotia are blue sharks, porbeagle, mako and great whites, but great whites are becoming more prevalent around our coasts because the earth is broken.
Ok, so if you see one, here’s what you do: don’t panic and maintain eye contact with the shark. So while not panicking, you have to swim backwards (slowly), ensuring you stare the shark dead in the eyes. Got it? Oh, and great whites have supersonic hearing and can detect panicked splashing. Not just normal splashing; specifically panicked splashing. So keep your splashing intentions in mind while you stare down the most terrifying creature on earth.
Researchers say that while humans are not their food of choice, they will eat you if they mistake you for prey. And since they are ambush predators, they like to sneak up on their prey, so if you make eye contact with it and be like “I see yoooouuuuu”, it will get bored and swim away. Allegedly.
Bear in mind, their eyes are on the side of their heads, so I’m not really sure how you make direct eye contact. Maybe just pick an eye? This seems like a risky game, so please don’t blame me if it doesn’t work (not that you’ll be able to).
Love and light! 🦈

The wines I’ll be drinking this summer and why

📸 Contributed
People ask me about wine all the time, but two questions come up more than any others: What's the best value? and what's the best wine for summer?
The truth is there isn't one.
Wine doesn't exist in a vacuum. The same bottle of Bordeaux that thrills me at a winter tasting with fellow wine geeks can feel completely out of place at a family barbecue in July. Great wine is about the moment as much as the bottle.
Last weekend, sitting on a cottage deck overlooking the Northumberland Strait, I found myself thinking about the wines I'd want within arm's reach in the cooler. Not necessarily the greatest wines in the world, but just the ones I'd happily sip on a warm afternoon.
