Happy Friday Halifax,
Look, I’ve had a heavy week.
In my professional life, we’ve tackled medically assisted suicide, abusive hockey parents and women’s reproductive care. Plus, I’ve endured some of you picking fights with me over the Cornell Seven—even though I intentionally chose not to open that can of worms on this platform…yet.
In my personal life, my child turned one—so life has lost all meaning—and I also celebrated seven years of sobriety.
It has been a lot, and frankly, I’m simply exhausted,
So, in light of all that, I just want to end the week with this weather report from the U.S because it makes me happy:

Yep, I am that level of mature today. Obviously I ran straight to the comments and they ranged from the obvious, but direct, “That’s a penis” to the more spicy “, “Not THE national weather service raw doggin’ the vast majority of the Mid West”, to the clever, “That’s some Big Doppler Energy.”
I’d say it looks like Canada’s gonna get the load…😜
This celebration of a weather penis is for everyone that says I’m a man hater. You’re so welcome.
Have a safe and restful weekend.
Love and light!
– Jules

Sketching the meaning of home: The artist behind Royale's Halifax box art

📸 Submitted
For Wynand van Niekerk, home was not always a place he could easily point to.
Born and raised in South Africa, van Niekerk eventually moved to Toronto after an opportunity with a Canadian company brought him to the country. Years later, another opportunity brought him east to Halifax. There, surrounded by the coastline, historic streets, and the maritime charm of Nova Scotia, something clicked.
“I always wanted to live next to the ocean and never had the chance back in South Africa,” says van Niekerk. “When I got to Halifax, I knew I had found home.”
