Hello beautiful people,

I’m here this morning to report that childhood as we know it officially ceases to exist. It’s over. Current and future children will now just behave like fully developed adults because the most vitally grounding, magical childhood experience is going the way of the…dodo.

That’s right, Kellogg’s is removing all artificial colour from its cereals. Get it now? Dodo. Like, Toucan Sam? Big colourful bird with the long beak. Pretty much the same thing, right?

So let’s picture Fruit Loops without the artificial colour, but still with the artificial taste. Just plain old Cheerios that taste like fake not-even fruit fruits? That’s a cognitive dissonance I don’t think anyone could bounce back from. Like when my baby thought I was feeding her a bite of ice cream the other night but it was actually….fish. The look of betrayal on her little face was truly shocking, but trauma’s gotta start somewhere I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ok, all kidding aside, I guess this is good news if you’re a toxins are bad believer. The company says they are going to try to use natural fruit juices to replicate the bright Fruit Loops colours, although I am unsure which fruits exist in nature that would make that neon green. There’s no way they’re eating the cost of juicing a billion kiwis.

The company said it invested in new manufacturing equipment and tested hundreds of recipes to preserve the cereals' familiar appearance and flavour. I don’t know how you replicate the flavour ‘green’, “pink” or in the case of Apple Jacks, “brown”, but
we shall see.

Kellogg’s has faced pressure for years to remove artificial ingredients from its cereals, which it has already done in other countries—allegedly including Canada. In 2024, dozens of people rallied outside Kellogg’s headquarters. Dozens, eh? What a mutiny.

I’m surprised that the U.S. is letting this happen to them so easily. I thought they’d be up in (literal) arms, all “Ameryoucan’t take our toxic artificial cereal! That’s protected under the 530th amendment!.” Or something.

Anyway, this makes no difference in my life, but I wish I had stockpiled some of the old toxic stuff in those teeny-sized boxes for Poppy to try at least once. Maybe they’ll have some on eBay. I’ll report back.

The biggest week in Nova Scotia's music scene is fast approaching.

From Nov 12-15, artists from across the province will gather in Truro for Nova Scotia Music Week 2026. Whether it's to perform, connect with fellow musicians or to potentially become a Music Nova Scotia award winner, singers and songwriters of all kinds will be gathered for four days in one town, all to celebrate local music.

For audiences, this will be a weekend of amazing performances in various venues across Nova Scotia's hub town.
