St. Patrick’s Day weekend was bound to end in a hangover, wasn’t it? It certainly feels that way looking through the Port of Halifax’s expected arrivals this week. Take a glance, and you’ll spot a whole flotilla of familiar names that were supposed to reach port last week, only to run into slowdowns and other snafus en route: Here’s looking at you, Violet Ace, Grand Pavo, MSC Sena and Atlantic Sun.

Last week’s leftovers aside, Halifax Harbour will see a flurry of activity throughout the week—from oil tankers, to cargo ships, to the Brooklyn Bridge itself. (Move over, Macdonald.)

☀️ Today's weather: Sunny with a 30% chance of showers in the afternoon. A high of 7C and a low of -3C.

🚨 A teen was arrested yesterday after Halifax Police responded to a weapons complaint at Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford. Upon arriving and arresting the suspect, police reportedly found three people suffering from stab wounds. The minister of Education and Early Childhood Development later released a statement, you can read it here.

✈️ Halifax Stanfield is reopening its NEXUS enrolment centre on Mar. 27. The centre has been closed since the start of the COVID pandemic back in 2020.

📄 A report by Dr. Jack Kitts and Elizabeth Noonan has found that the cardiac surgery department at Queen Elizabeth II is full of “unacceptable behaviours” that are inappropriate for the workplace. CBC has the story.

💔 Ukrainian students studying at Dalhousie have helped put together an exhibit at Saint Mary’s University showcasing the tragic stories of Ukrainian students who were never able to make use of their diplomas.

🧑‍⚕️ Tim Houston announced yesterday that full-time Nova Scotian nurses who remained on the job over the past year are being rewarded with a $10K bonus this year, and if they promise to remain on the job until 2026 they’ll receive another $10K bonus in 2024.

🇺🇦 The Ukrainian Store has helped families settle into Halifax over the past few months, but at the end of March it has to leave its Bayers Road location. Luckily, the store has found a new location on Agricola Street and is waiting on a second spot in Dartmouth.
