OK, I really need you to do a thing so that I don’t have to. Because I will. And I’m already holding on for dear life with three fur babies and one skin baby. It’s too many mouths to feed and judgy eyes to avoid.

Bide Awhile animal shelter is showing off some of their finest kitties in “Adopt a less-adoptable cat week”.

Whether due to medical conditions, special at-home requirements, breed stereotypes or age, there are several factors that categorize an animal as less adoptable. Those at Bide Awhile in Dartmouth are breaking down the stereotypes and helping get their cats forever homes.

Guysssssss! I present to you Almond:

Almond— a 10-year-old lady—has no medical concerns. She just has a naked belly and a Wolverine hand. She’s so cute I can hardly bear it (get it? cause she looks like a bear). I don’t know how anyone could overlook this cat based on her appearance. I am actually actively underlooking her because she is perfection.

They are also showcasing Zero:

At eight-years-old, Zero is apparently on the “older side” and thus often not picked because everyone wants a younger kitten. Girl, this is literally the exact same thing I was experiencing when I tried online dating. Nobody wants a 43-year-old widow; they want the person version of a kitten. I stand in solidarity with this middle-aged queen. Also, just so you know, this rating system is on a zero-to-ten scale, with Zero being the most adorable.

Finally, there’s Aries:

She’s perfect except she has has diabetes, which the shelter says is fairly common. I have experience with diabetic cats—my childhood cat Charlie was diabetic because he would eat full jujubs and timbits—and it’s honestly no big thing. You just have to give them insulin shots twice a day, which the shelter says Aries tolerates like the icon she is. Look at those eyes.

Adopting an elder lady is honestly chic and guess what kittens grow up to be? Old cats. They’re only kittens for like two seconds and honestly, they are mostly psychotic and a lot of work. These ladies will fit into your life seamlessly and won’t destroy your curtains.

GO GET ONE! (but not Almond because I need her)

Last week, the government of Nova Scotia announced it's Building Our Budget Together program. This puts Nova Scotians in the shoes of the provincial finance minister, making all the tough choices that a finance minister is supposed to make.
