Good morning, Halifax!

Hey, so, you know how some of us can barely afford our groceries because of greedy CEOs who really, really need their bonuses to get by (in other words, to buy one of those hideous Musk trucks)?

Despite all your grocery buying making them richer, these people are still talking smack about you behind closed doors. That is, until the door is accidentally left ajar.

A new lawsuit implicates an executive of Campbell’s soup in mocking the company’s own product, allegedly saying that its “highly processed food for poor people.” The executive also allegedly told a security analyst, who had come to talk about salary, that he often came to work high on edibles, and also topped it all off with some racist comments made towards Indigenous people.

The security analyst says they reported the inappropriate conduct and were promptly fired for doing so. Once news of the lawsuit got out, social media was ablaze with folks boycotting the soup brand.

Take this as your daily reminder that the people who make money off your groceries probably aren’t all that great as people. I’m also willing to bet they’re high on edibles half the time. How else could grocery CEOs live with themselves?

Feds announce Atlantic Economic Panel made up of Canadian business leaders, innovators

📸 ACOA Canada/YouTube

The federal government has announced a new initiative taking advantage of what it calls economic “momentum” in Atlantic Canada.

Justice minister and attorney general Sean Fraser, who is also responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced during a livestream in Halifax on Tuesday the Atlantic Economic Panel, which will offer recommendations on “unlocking our region’s full potential.”

According to a government press release, members of the panel will seek to secure a stronger economic position for Atlantic Canada, from clean energy, defence, tourism, and other “areas of opportunity.” All seven appointed members are Atlantic Canadian private business leaders. The panel has been dubbed the Atlantic Economic Panel, created in response to shifts in global trade—no doubt influenced by the ongoing trade war with the United States.
