🗞️ Carney-val!
Plus, ceremonies held across province to mark National Day of Mourning, Emera and Nova Scotia Power responding to cybersecurity incident and white nationalism is on the rise in Nova Scotia—and we need to talk about it.
Good night/morning Halifax!
Traditionally, election night always ends up exactly like Oscar night for me. It’s all excitement and snacks and “let’s watch!” and then I end up halfway through best cinematography—or Manitoba in last night’s case—and I’m like…
@misomanobabycato fighting sleep 💤 #catsoftiktok #kitten #orangecat #kittensoftiktok #cat #beabadoobee @Beabadoobee
But last night I drank some coffee and stayed on high alert because the last time there was a major election that could threaten our ideologic and economic future, I went to sleep before it was over and had a nightmare that I still haven’t woken up from.
Luckily, at only 11:08pm, the election was officially called for Mark Carney and the Liberals. See below for how it all shook down in Nova Scotia.
Ohhhhhhhh Canada! 🇨🇦

🍻 Craft brewers in Nova Scotia are paying tribute to the man who helped kick-start the industry in the province with a new beer made in his honour—Kevin Keefe, who died in 2024, was the founder of Halifax's Granite Brewery, the first craft brewery in Nova Scotia when it opened inside Ginger's Tavern in 1985.
🕯️ Five of the 11 victims killed at the Lapu Lapu Day festival attack in Vancouver have been identified—as of Monday morning, 17 patients remain in hospital. Descriptions of their injuries range from non-life-threatening to serious to critical.

OPINION
“Awful but not unlawful”: White nationalism is on the rise in Nova Scotia—and we need to talk about it

📸 Credit: Tom Krochak
We are witnessing a steep escalation in white nationalism in Nova Scotia.
This is not hyperbole.
I do not say this lightly. And I do not say it for effect.
I say this as someone who has long advocated publicly against white supremacy, misogyny, and systemic injustice—and who has faced abuse both online and in person because of it.
Many racialized and marginalized communities will tell you: this hate has never truly gone away. But now we’re seeing something else—something bolder, more organized, and more public. A wave of emboldened fascism and white nationalism is rearing its head in this province.
And we ignore it at our peril.
