🗞️ Camping in Point Pleasant isn't a thing yet

Plus, recent string of murders of women only a glimpse at extent of intimate partner violence, Maritime provinces working to make sure residents receive "vital mail" during strike and all the winners from the 2024 Music Nova Scotia Awards

Halifax Chamber of Commerce

Oh hey Halifax,

Please read the following paragraph in that famous movie trailer voice from the ‘90s:

“Just when you thought it was safe to take the rotary again, the brilliant minds that took away the Chronicle Herald and brought you SaltWire and then took away SaltWire are back and better than ever! Not even bankruptcy could keep this dream team apart as they take to the boardroom once again, this time with their most perplexing business venture yet!”

That’s right! The executive team from SaltWire has banded together to launch Flexible C-Suite—a company, which as far as I can tell, rents out the ousted SaltWire execs to help your business get…better?

I’m literally deceased reading their values page, which includes things like “fresh ideas,” “innovative” and the kicker… ”a genuine, empathetic, inclusive approach that values diversity.” Oh, and the values are listed alongside a stock image of… a newspaper. Guys! A newspaper? They did not include a newspaper in the promotional material!

I had the pleasure of working along these people for a short time and I can tell you through my lived experience that SaltWire—with these people at the helm—was the most toxic, abusive, intolerant workplace I have ever experienced in my 15 years in marketing and PR.

And also, lest we forget, the place was driven directly into the ground and sold to an even more evil media company for the bargain basement price of $1M. Don’t you want the CFO and CGO that spearheaded that to come help your business grow?

You know what? Maybe I’m just bummed because they got the jump on me before I could launch my new business “Empty Suits for Rent.”

The audacity of it all!

– Julie
