TGI effing F, amirite?
I’ve had a tough week in terms of negative male attention, but I knew that would happen what with talking about men murdering, women being leaders and ladies having babies like a complete man-hating lunatic.
Take this guy, for example, who I think believed ‘IVF’ stood for abortions or maybe…cloning? Because he thought I was just throwing away perfectly good babies on my road to…have a baby? ⬇️
Annnnyways, I’m going to keep it short, sweet and focused on something I have very little vested interest in (anymore): liquor.
If you have been here a while, you know that there was a time in my life when I’d shove just about anything down this gullet: vanilla extract, cooking wine, Listerine. You name it and I’ve mixed it with Diet Pepsi and caught a buzz.
I haven’t stepped foot inside an NSLC in many moons, but I know that U.S. booze has been in absentia. But removing U.S. alcohol from Canadian shelves has been a major trade irritant to Donald Trump—which he called “discriminatory measures”— when he announced a fresh set of tariffs on Canada last month.
Several premiers—including Tim Houston—have said that Prime Minister Mark Carney has asked provinces to restock American alcohol on their shelves as Canada finalizes that new trade deal—which could see Canada avoid these tariffs.
The question I ask you is this:
If the NSLC starts stocking U.S. liquor again, will you buy it?
Love, light and lazy summer days!

Eliot & Vine Resists Easy Labels

📸 Contributed
I arrived at Eliot & Vine, located on the corner of Cunard and Clifton Streets in Halifax, on a surprisingly wet summer afternoon. It was the kind of day that makes oysters and a glass of wine feel less like an indulgence and more like a gastronomic shelter.
Between 4 and 5:30pm, the restaurant offers $1 oysters, along with $7 wine and beer. There is one caveat: to access the oyster special, you must also order something from the regular menu (not counting fries). This seemed entirely fair to me. Oysters are expensive, and with the regular price here sitting at $4.50 each (on the higher side) the promotion represents excellent value. Eliot & Vine may well be one of just few that still do the buck-a-shuck concept in Halifax.
