🗞️ Better late than never
Plus, Tim Houston says province will not be implementing any “strong mayor powers”, fire crews on site monitoring hot spots on site of Middle Sackville apartment building and we asked, you answered.
Good morning Halifax,
Words that I learned as a child and continue to live by as a mantra for my life and career. Ah-hem…
“CLANG, CLANG, RATTLE BING BANG, GONNA MAKE MY NOISE ALL DAY!”
To which I picture you all now yelling simultaneously: “JULIE! BE QUIET!”
Robert Munsch played such a pivotal role in so many of our childhoods and his legacy will live on through the next generation and beyond (being very optimistic about the existence of future generations, I know). I literally just picked up a fresh copy of Love you Forever for my soon to be released baby girl because that book is just…it’s…just perfect.
Munsch—the beloved Canadian author of Mortimer, Love You Forever, The Paper Bag Princess, Thomas’ Snowsuit and so many more—says he has been approved for medical assistance in dying (MAID) after he was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
In his ypical style, he’s taking it all in stride.
The 80 year-old joked with the New York Times that his application said, “Hello, Doc—come kill me! How much time do I have? Fifteen seconds!”. After watching his brother die slowly from ALS, he said he doesn’t want to “linger that way” and he thinks he will choose to go “when I start having real trouble talking and communicating. Then I’ll know.”
Although it will be a massive loss for Canada, take some time to revisit the nostalgia of his books with your kids or grandkids. They have definitely aged well.
Love and light!
– Julie

The labour disruption at Dalhousie University is over, according to the university’s board and the Dalhousie Faculty Association. But we can’t ignore the time (and money) that students lost out on.
According to a press release from the Dal Student Union, each week that classes are cancelled represents about 7% of the semester—as a result, students are holding a rally to ask the university for tuition refunds based on time lost already this year.
So, we asked you—should Dalhousie students be getting a refund for each day the faculty remains locked out? Head on over to The Coast to see the official results and read our favourite comments.
