Good morning, Halifax.

Thank you to everyone who participated in The Coast’s Halifax Burger Bash 2026 with Garrison Brewing. Although I do not have exact numbers as of yet, I am happy to report that all of your support raised a lot of money for Feed Nova Scotia.

If you missed out, or your heart is feeling extra big today, be sure to direct a donation towards Feed Nova Scotia through their website. They supply food banks and networks across the province, helping our most vulnerable populations every day. If you’re feeling extra nice, maybe even ask to lend a hand at your local food bank. They could always use it.

Thanks again and have a wonderful Tuesday!

Providing support through unique fashion: The story behind Outsider Insight

📸 Brendyn Creamer

Like many of us, Gavin Quinn is no stranger to mental health struggles.

When he had faced those problems head-on, he recognized the importance of support, whether it be from friends, family, or organizations that specialize in mental health in all of its intricacies.

Impassioned, Quinn began Outsider Insight, a mental health-focused art collective that raises money to support non-profits and charities that specialize in community programming, mental health initiatives and support systems. It usually does this through fashion, with $5 of every sale going to a partnered organization.

👀 In Case You Missed It

🧵 In a city where creativity has long shaped identity and economic growth, Halifax designer Ben Kynock is raising concerns about what he sees as a growing threat to the arts community, particularly for young people. Born and raised in Halifax, Kynock is the founder, creative director, and designer behind One-off Design, a clothing label built on originality and individuality. His work is deeply rooted in a childhood shaped by graffiti, skateboarding, and a relentless drive to stand out. “I’ve been an artist my whole life,” Kynock says. “I started in the graffiti world and eventually, years and years later, got into design and fashion.” The Coast’s Warren D’Silva speaks with Kynock about his fashion brand and the provincial budget cuts to arts and culture.
